iPic2VoiceLite is now "waiting for review" from Apple

And this was the final step: I've just submitted the lite version of iPic2Voice!

It will be the same as iPic2Voice (normal version) except that:
- only 9 pictures will be editable,
- the other 15 pictures have a picture with "Test written on them" and I already linked them with miscellaneous sounds so that users can quickly understand the principle.

iPic2Voice accepted by Apple !

The second time was the good one ! Apple just accepted iPic2Voice.
What's weird is that even though I had set a release date to mid-december, some website already caught it as a "new" app ?!
And right now, I cannot find it on any App Store... strange...

Right now i'm still focused on iVocAudio (+ I'm in France without my iMac), but when I'm back home I'll do my best to launch iPic2Voice before Christmas!

Hop hop: new upload towards Apple for iPic2Voice

I've just uploaded a new binary, in which I degraded the appearance of the slider so that there is no confusion with Apple's  "slide to unlock"control ... it definitely looks less good, but I still think the slider is the best control to be used so that children cannot access easily the "edit mode".

If I get another refusal then I'll develop this function in another way...

By the way FYI: when I received the refusal from Apple a few days ago, I naturally sent them a tree with all the possibilities I could imagine so that the App would get approved, asking them for a hint => they answered that they are not allowed to help developers in that way, and just quoted the very general article about the rules to be followed for acceptance (review guideline). Unfortunately I couldn't find a clear answer as regards what had to be changed in my app.

iPic2Voice: 1st refusal from Apple

Yesterday, Apple refused my First submission because i used a slider in a non conventionnal way so It might "confuse user experience". So next step is to transform this slider so that it becomes acceptable... Not before wednesday 23/11 since I'll be in London until then :-(

iPic2Voice: restart!

I had developped very important improvement those last days:
  • addition of vertical scrolling,
  • addition of pictures so that total number is now 24!!
  • optimization of global speed and memory management.

In consequence, I canceled my last sending to Apple and sent a new one on November 13th... to be followed!

iPic2Voice switched to "Waiting for Review"

... I received the e-mail from Apple on 11/11/10 at 00:08 (Turkish time)!
For my previous submission (iVocAudio) I took 11 days for the whole Apple process until it finally hit the the Appstore, so let's see this new leadtime!

General presentation of iPic2Voice

Welcome to iPic2Voice, the only App thanks to which you can easily link pictures to sounds by yourself! From now on you’ll be able to design your own «Vocal image book » with which your kids will play and learn endlessly… by themselves!

WHAT’S THE PRINCIPLE ?
For each of the 12 possible pictures :
- you select a picture from your iPhone’s library,
- you record a voice or a sound with the microphone of your iPhone,
- you type in a small title (if you want !) that’ll be displayed over the picture,

... then you can play ! Just press whatever picture and you’ll hear its sound!
If you press several pictures together you’ll hear a symphony ^^.
There were many Apps already thanks to which you could play sounds when pressing pictures, but iPic2Voice is the first one you can choose Picture+Sound+Text according to YOUR need !

TYPICAL USE EXAMPLES
- You want your toddler to learn the name of specific objects, but think it’s more fun if he/she hears the voice of her Grand-mother saying the words or singing ! For instance, you put the picture of your own car, and either you record the voice saying « car » or record your voice making the sound of it (“Vrrrrrrrrr“)! This can be especially fun for the sounds of animals ;-)

- You live far from your family, and you want your kid to remember that his siblings love him/her. You can select a picture for each member of the family, ask them to tell sweet words for your kids (this is possible with a simple phone-call). Everyday, your kid will press the pictures and hear loving declarations…

- You want your children to learn object names in a different language.

- You’re going to have a very important meeting, and you want to impress the people who will attend: you select their pictures (cf LinkedIn for instance), record their names, and now you can train to recognize them! On D day, you’ll be able to go right to Steve Smith calling him “Steve” without any hesitation!

A FEW DETAILED FEATURES
- In “Play” mode, you need to move the slider at the bottom of the screen in order to access the “edition” mode. This guarantees that your little kids won’t modify your settings.
- Possibility to switch between earphones mode and speaker mode (please bear in mind that playing this game at doctor’s can be quite embarrassing in speaker mode…).
- Unlimited recording possibilities and durations.

IMPROVEMENTS FOR NEXT VERSION
Depending on the use of this App, and if you confirm the need, we plan to develop following features:
- possibility to create as many projects as you want inside iPic2Voice (for instance: one set of pictures for each of your kids, or 1 set of pictures of each group of objects or animals etc.).
- possibility to save the pictures and related sounds by e-mail so that you can send them to your friends/family.
Please let us know if that sounds good to you !
